My Essential Kit for Install Day: Tools & Tips for a Successful Move-In

I share my entire install kit list with a few tried and true helpful tips for the big move in day (or days)!

Install Days!

Install days are a whirlwind of excitement, chaos, and creativity in the world of interior design. It's the day when plans come to life, furniture finds its place, and a house transforms into a home. But success on install day doesn't come by chance; it requires preparation, organization, and a well-packed kit. As an experienced interior designer who's seen it all, I've put together the ultimate install kit that has become my lifeline during these intense days. Let's dive into what's in my bag and why these items are essential for a successful move-in!

Dream Team, clients, builders & Designers

Plan Ahead & Coordinate with the Team

Have a clear itinerary for the day, from delivery times to placement plans. Your install kit is there to support this plan. Communicate with contractors, movers, and any other team members. Everyone should know their role.

Be Flexible

Even with the best planning, surprises can happen. Your install kit is like a magic bag of solutions for those unexpected moments. Life happens, spills happen, boxes will be unpacked, things will be sent back, you will need to just go with your plan, but mostly also go with the flow.

Find the time to take a mirror picture. It's important to be able to capture those in between happy moments.

Take Care of Yourself (& your crew)

Among the tools and cleaners, don't forget the personal care items like snacks, drinks, and bandaids. A well-fed, well-rested designer is a successful one! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve reached into my bag and grabbed a granola bar and an apple, or been so happy I had my toothbrush handy after a longgggg day. also WATER. drink your damn water. all of it. all day. it will make you feel good on the inside.

2. Koordiner med teamet: Kommuniser med alle, flyttefolk, og alle andre teammedlemmer. Alle bør vite sin rolle.
