Crafting Joy: My Wreath-Making Workshop

I recently had the absolute joy of hosting a wreath-making workshop at the charming Arthur's Flower Atelier, and it was an experience filled with creativity, laughter, and the sweet smell of greens. (various evergreens, juniper, cedar, eucalyptus to name a few) …

Let me take you through this whimsical day where we turned simple branches into pieces of art.

Arthur’s Atelier

Arthur's Flower Atelier was the perfect backdrop for our workshop. Surrounded by an abundance of beautiful blooms and greenery, it set the mood for our festive crafting session. The atelier's cozy ambiance, coupled with the natural light filtering through its windows, made it an inviting space for unleashing our creativity. Also to make note, Arthur is a lovely human being and his expertise was more than welcomed. So thankful he opened his studio up for me so that we could share some fun tips and tricks for wreath making.

Getting Ready

Although I had done a lot of the prep work… like gathering pine cones, dehydrating citrus slices, there was still much to do! With Arthur’s studio as the backdrop, we still had to trim the trees& place the tools.

Snacks, Bubbles, and Laughs

To ensure a fun yet delightful atmosphere, I put together an array of snacks and, of course, bubbles! I love a good spread so I made sure there was a but of something for everyone. I personally go all in when it comes to a grazing board, an my favorite addition this go around was the chocolate. Realllly into sweets these days and I’m ok with that. Seems fitting for the season.

Around the ring we go!

As everyone got settled, (everyone had their own 18” ring, clippers & 22 gauge paddle wire) I introduced the craft of wreath-making. I started with a little intro on how to start the wreath in the barren wire ring. With the abundance of greens and vast assortment of decor (thank you Arthur!) We had to set the tone of own individual wreaths. White pine, juniper and cedar were used for the main foundation of the rings, while boxwood, magnolia & eucalyptus were peppered in and around. Once the base was established, everyone had the option of adding dried citrus slices (that I dehydrated myself), cinnamon sticks, foraged pinecones, ornaments and dried flowers. The beauty of wreath-making is in its flexibility; each piece reflects the maker's personality and style.

I guided our lovely group through each step, from selecting their greens to forming the base and adding personal touches. The air was filled with the sound of laughter and the rustling of leaves and branches as everyone got to work.

Wreaths to Be Proud Of

The highlight of the day? Seeing the proud smiles as each participant held up their finished wreath. It was incredible to see how different each wreath turned out, but more impressive was how everyone lit up with they held up their wreath and smiled with pride. Really warmed the cockles of my heart. Each wreath was a testament to the creator's imagination and flair.

As the workshop came to a close, there was a sense of accomplishment in the air over the shared love of crafting.

We also were able to donate proceeds to help a family in need through Hamptons Community Outreach.

Inspired to create your own wreath or join in on the fun? Keep an eye out for more workshops like this, or get in touch if you want to bring a similar experience to your event. Let's fill our lives with more creative gatherings, laughter, and beautiful wreaths!
