Pridwin

I was recently chatting with friends about the Pridwin and it reminded me of a post I had forgotten to share from this past fall. Although they are closed for the winter season, I highly recommend this shelter island trek when the open again this coming spring. I wrote this in september. I can’t even believe we’re already here at the end of November, but it deserves it’s space on the internet.

A Day in Paradise: Off-Season Lunch at The Pridwin Hotel

I've been looking forward to an escape, a pause from the daily routine. So, when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance to experience the off-season charm of Shelter Island's iconic Pridwin Hotel. Let me tell you, the day was sheer delight. From the weather—sunny and a balmy 72 degrees—to the open seating on the patio, everything aligned perfectly for a memorable lunch getaway

There's something magical about enjoying a place during its off-season. I recently had the pleasure of dining at the iconic Pridwin Hotel on Shelter Island, and let me tell you, it was nothing short of delightful. Picture perfect weather—sunny, 72 degrees—and open seating on the patio made the experience utterly memorable.

As soon as I stepped foot onto the property, I was enveloped in its charm. The decor, ah, just delightful! The vintage vibe mixed with modern touches gave the hotel a unique yet timeless feel. The patio seating provided us with an unobstructed view of the waterfront, making it the perfect backdrop for our lunch.

Let's talk about the menu, shall we? With a variety of fresh local produce & seafood, choosing was a challenge. But when the dishes arrived, oh boy, they were worth every moment of indecision. Paired with a glass of local wine, the meal was close to perfect.

Good food is best enjoyed with good company, & being in such a beautiful setting had us all in high spirits. There's something about the sea air and sun that brings out the best in people, don't you agree? I brought my dear Kira with me and loved every moment!

One of the best parts about visiting during the off-season was the unhurried atmosphere. It felt as though we had the place to ourselves, which added an extra layer of exclusivity to the experience. No crowds, just the sound of the sea and the occasional seagull.

My day trip to the Pridwin Hotel on Shelter Island was a refreshing change from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. The off-season has its own unique charm, & I couldn’t have asked for a better day out.
